Millions spent to ‘maintain offices of ministers’ – A breakdown of expenditure

A colossal amount of money is spent to maintain the offices of Ministers, who are appointed to look into the well being of the masses.

The following information was revealed in Parliament recently:

Ministry of Agriculture

Monthly Rental – Over Rs.24.5 million
Down-payment made for 23 months – Rs. 570.6 million.
Even though rent has been paid for the past 11 months, the building is yet to be occupied.

Ministry of Primary Industries

Monthly Rental – Over Rs.2.8 million.
Downpayment made for 12 months – Nearly Rs.4.3 million.

Ministry of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs.

Monthly Rental – Over Rs.3.4 million.
Downpayment made for 3 months – Nearly Rs.15.2million.

Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade

Monthly Rental – Over Rs.1.5 million.

Ministry of Law and Order and Southern Development

Monthly Rental – Over Rs. 2.4 million.

Ministry of Transport & Civil Aviation

Monthly Rental – Over Rs.4.8 million

Ministry of Women and Child Affairs

Monthly Rental – Over Rs.14 million.

Ministry of Social Empowerment & Welfare

Monthly Rental – Over Rs.11.9 million.

Ministry of Science, Technology and Research

Monthly Rental – Over Rs. 6.6 million.

Accordingly, the monthly rental expenditure borne by the government for these Ministries amounts to nearly 150 million rupees, the down payment made for them exceeds One billion rupees.
