Question:
“When it comes to the Google Loon project, the ICTA played a major role in initiating the project. Will its role be subjected to an audit of any manner?”
Auditor General Gamini Wijesinghe:
“All these expenses will be classified as capital expenditure of ICTA. We will look into it in the future. We will need to examine how money was spent and whether the projects were successful. We will look into these matters because the concept of the ICTA is very important and essential to the country. If we are to increase the nation’s efficiency, we need to introduce technology to state institutions. But by introducing such methods, we cannot let the nation’s technological advancement decline. It needs to be done in a manner that does not waste public funds and ensures that it is successful in the long term. Therefore, we will definitely look into the efficiency of these projects”.
