A Pakistani national was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport for possessing heroin valued at over Rs. 50 million.

The police stated that the suspect had arrived in the country from Pakistan via Doha Qatar.

The haul of heroin weighing 5.5 kg was found concealed in the suspects luggage.

The Police Narcotics Bureau said, the arrest was made based on a tip off received.

A senior official stated that the drugs smuggled into the country had been concealed in rubber sheets, a technique which has not been used before.
