The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation says that a concessionary period will be granted to three-wheeler drivers to install meters and issue a receipt.

Deputy Minister Ashoka Abeysinghe said that he advised the relevant officials to formulate a mechanism for taxi meters to be obtained on a monthly payment basis.

Meanwhile, regulations were set in a gazette notification that was published, on the installment of speakers that emit sound that inconveniences  passengers in three-wheelers and against installing speakers in three-wheelers to emit sound, to be heard outside the vehicle.

However,  the Ministry of Transport noted that steps will not be taken through this gazette notification to regulate three-wheeler fares.
