The National Water Supply and Drainage Board says that the water supply to Kandy, Kalutara and Matara have been hampered owing to the dry weather conditions.
Chairman of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Alahudeen Ansari said that the salt concentration has increased in the waterways in Kalutara as the percentage of salt water entering the Kalu Ganga, has increased.
He added that discussions are underway on plans to face a possible intensification of the prevalent dry weather conditions.Due to lack of drinking water, water bowsers have been deployed to affected villages.
