President Sirisena says that there needs to be a change in ideologies of individuals when developing the country.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Nila Mehewara National Mobile Service Program in the Galle district, he called for a change in policies that will affect state institutions
“I am astounded at the amount of money being spent on these lavish ceremonies. I believe that the amount they spend on weddings provides a perfect barometer for their economic status and income. At times I wonder why they cant spend a little on these weddings and use the rest of the money to do some good for some low income family”, he said.
Prime Minister,Ranil Wickremesinghe pointed out that there are two clear options, and that is to either join hands travel towards sustainable development and make the country developed by 2020, or resort to old political ideologies and commit acts of sabotage
“Should we put on a media spectacle and pretend to solve the problems of the people or should we come in silently and solve the problems of the people and give them a better life.?” questioned the Premier
Chief Minister of the Southern province ,Shan Wijeyalal De Silva noted that state officials may have varying political opinions, however no matter what personal opinions they have, they are obligated to work under the present administration to take forward it’s policies.
The “Nila Mehewara” National Mobile Service Programme, a brainchild of President Maithripala Sirisena is aimed at providing all state services to the grass-root level.A number of other public representatives including Minister of Mass media Gayantha Karunathilaka were present at the ceremony held at the Siridhamma college in Labuduwa, Galle.
