President Maithripala Sirisena says, legal action will be taken against websites which set to threaten the process of justice.

The president expressed these views at the Annual Conference of Judges which was held in Wattala on Monday, December 19.

The president said there are false news and false allegations which are cited in websites against justices who function in the judicial sector. The president said:

I am the person who is criticised and insulted on a daily basis, and no one can break that record… What I do is, I don’t pay attention to these reports, which is the same advice I give my wife and children.

The president went on to state that particular websites are exploiting the freedom they have and that as the government, they are displeased by this prospect. Furthermore, the president said that a number of decisions have been reached, following discussions with the prime minister and that they should take all the possible legal measures in this regard. The president assured that  a reasonable wage system will be formulated for the employees of the legal fraternity.
