Final rites of veteran artiste, Dr. Pandith W.D. Amaradewa, who passed away on Thursday morning, will be held with full state honours at Independence square at 3:30 pm on Saturday.

Further, a week of mourning has been declared commencing today.

The remains will be placed at Independence Square from tomorrow for the public to pay their last respects.

The veteran artiste who rendered a yeoman service to the Sri Lankan music industry, passed away while receiving treatment at the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital.

The late veteran musician was 88 years old at the time of his demise.
