The renovation work to Minipe Dam commenced on Thursday under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena. The Project commenced at the left bank of the Minipe Canal in the Hasalaka.
President Maithripala Sirisena removed the first lump of earth to mark the commencement of this project. The project is to conclude in four years. At its conclusion, 15000 farming families will be benefited by it .The estimated cost for the project is Rs.2600 million. The project will be carried out with the aid provided by the Asian Development Bank.
President Maithripala Sirisena, addressing the event, stated that a special programme will be implemented to provide land deeds to farmers in Minipe.
