U.S. Pacific Command experts provide disaster response training to SL counterparts

Experts from the U.S. Pacific Command provided training for disaster response counterparts from Sri Lanka and Maldives, on preparation and response to potential oil spill scenario that could severely impact local environment and tourism.

The US Embassy in Sri Lanka quotes Ambassador Atul Keshap as saying, that protecting the well-being of the Indian Ocean region is one of the reasons why it is important to develop regional cooperation. The Ambassador added that the United States will stand together with Sri Lanka and Maldives to ensure that the seas can continue to provide food and employment.
