The Sri Lanka Federation of University Women celebrated its Diamond Jubilee on Wednesday, September 14.
The event themed Sustaining the Transformation was attended by a distinguished gathering. At the event, Minister Susil Premajayantha commented on climate change.
The minister noted that the global temperature would rise by 4 degrees Celsius if they don’t stick to the convention within the coming 20 years. But many political leaders including leading countries did not consider it important. Therefore another portfolio was created named disaster management, he said.
He added that in order to mitigate it 193 member countries of the UN signed the agreement and they are in the process of ratifying as the government unanimously approved the ratification of climate change agreement.
