The MV Ceylon Princess, a ship belonging to Sri Lanka, has rescued a group of people aboard a vessel in distress.

The rescue operation took place when MV Ceylon Princess, belonging to the Ceylon Shipping Corporation was bound for South Africa, to transport a stock of coal for the Lakvijaya Power Plant.

The Ceylon Shipping Corporation states that while the ship was sailing in close proximity to Mauritius, it engaged in aiding a distressed coastguard vessel belonging to that country.

The crew aboard the MV Ceylon Princess who took quick measures to rescue the crew aboard the stricken vessel, were able to take them towards safety.

The Ceylon Shipping Corporation says that while the rescued personnel were handed over to the Mauritius Coastguard, the MV Ceylon Princess is once again bound towards South Africa.
