The first solar powered system which was installed at the president’s official residence was activated on Tuesday afternoon.
Thereafter, the inauguration ceremony of the Soorya Bala Sangramaya programme dubbed as the Battle for Solar Energy took place at the BMICH.

The Soorya Bala Sangramaya programme aims to reduce Carbon Dioxide emissions from thermal power plants to 150,000 metric tons per year and to add 1,000 megawatts of power to the national grid by the year 2025.
Under the project, solar panels will be provided to one million homes in a bid to encourage these consumers to produce electricity to meet their energy requirements while consumers can also earn an income from the excess electricity generated.
