The 70th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated in Colombo on Sunday morning.
A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo in line with the Independence Day of Pakistan which falls on August 14.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali.
Speaking at the event, Pakistani High Commissioner to Sri Lanka retired Major General Syed Shakeel Hussain said that economic cooperation, with peaceful resolution of disputes, will pave the way for a promising future – for not just the South Asian region – but also for the world at large.
Pakistan commemorates the day after it achieved independence and was declared a sovereign nation, following the end of the British Rule in 1947.
