Speaking at a public rally held in Attanagalle, former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge commented on the 2009 assassination of senior journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge.
She noted that Mahinda Rajapaksa’s wife had mentioned something, and for that reason “he had called the late Lasantha Wickremetunge and stated that he will kill him.”
She added that Lasantha had published a story where Mahinda’s wife had forcefully visited a Hindu kovil where women cannot enter, and it was washed with tumeric for seven days.
She went on to note that they should not take much note of what media institutions bark for Rajapaksa’s from morning to night
