Today, Saturday, August 6, was a special day for the people of the Wella fishing village in Chilaw, who have not enjoyed a happy moment in a long time.

A livelihood centered around the big blue ocean was at risk due to the absence of a guiding light in the darkness.However,  today the News1st Gammedda team led the way for a shinning light to guide them in reaching their homes without any trouble.

News1st was accorded a warm welcome today by a convoy of little boats and the Wella Fishing Harbour in Chilaw which remained in darkness for many years – and was lit up under the Gammedda 100-day initiative.
