A police constable attached to the Kohuwala Police station has been arrested by the Special Investigations Unit of the Police Headquarters. He was arrested for allegedly attempting to solicit a bribe of Rs.15,000 from a motorist under the influence of alcohol.
Police stated that the drunk driver whose vehicle was parked on the side of the road, was escorted to the Kohuwala Police station by a mobile patrol unit.
A police constable had then attempted to intimidate the motorist by threatening to arrest him if he did not pay Rs.15,000.
The police constable was arrested following a complaint lodged regarding the incident.
