Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundera says that information has come to light that a tense situation could arise as a result of the march, and other activities, that have been organised by political parties in Kandy.
Issuing a communique, the Inspector General of Police requests the public to refrain from engaging in activities such as this.
The IGP informs the public to be vigilant about activities of this nature.
The communique states that certain political groups have organised events for propaganda purposes and that the Kandy and Mawanella Magistrates’ Courts have issued injunction orders against them.
The IGP states that the law will be strictly enforced on those who violate these orders.
