Today marks day eight of the Gammedda 100-day initiative, organised by News1st.
About 5000 fishermen have long greatly inconvenienced, for a long period of time, due to the absence of a lamp post at the Fisheries harbour in Chilaw. News1st today commenced activities to fulfill their need through the Gammedda 100-days public initiative.
Meanwhile, construction work on the projects to provide clean drinking water for the the students of Kilinochchi Paranthan Tamil Vidhyalaya, to provide for water for the people of Borele, Weligama, to reconstruct the Dambula Wewala road, and to reconstruct a stretch of road from the Damanayaka Junction to Alakolawewa are in full swing.
Resolving the issues surrounding clean drinking water for the Poeple of Damanayaya, Dambulla, Providing sanitation facilities for 70 families in Yatiyantota, erecting of an elephant fence for the people of Hambantota, are three of the projects which are scheduled to commence under the Gammedda 100 day programme.
Preparations have been made to install new roofs for the people who were resettled in Palaththadi- Chenai Thoppur in Trincomalee as part of the fourth project.
