Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Azmi Thassim says that an officer will be dispatched on Monday, July 18, to inquire into the issued faced by a group of Sri Lankans who have been staging a protest in Alkobar, Dammam.

A few days earlier News1st revealed the plight of a group of Sri Lankans who have been engaging in a protest opposite an industrial zone in the city of Alkobar in Saudi Arabia after being denied their pay for eight months.

We revealed that the Sri Lankans are facing dire hardships due to a lack of food and water. Following the News1st revelation, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia noted that an official would be dispatched today to look into their issues. ..

Sri Lankan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Azmi Thassim stated that they have begun an 400km journey in order to meet with the officials in person.

He added that they will be able to hold discussions with the labour rights specialist within a day.
