Newsfirst on Monday announced the Gammedda 100-day initiative aimed at resolving issues that we discovered during our journey across the nation through the Gammedda Door-to-Door campaign.
Following the announcement, over Rs.20 million has been pledged within the past 24 hours by the general public, organisations and institutions.
Earlier this evening, the News1st Gammedda team met with Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and presented specific examples of problems and issues identified during the Gammedda Door-to-Door campaign which are in need of urgent solutions.
The discussions ended fruitfully with the minister agreeing to support the Gammedda 100-day initiative by immediately doing what is necessary to resolve these issues.
Minister of Finance, Ravi Karunanayake stated that they are bound to implement the programme since they will intervene and provide answers and solutions to complex issues in helpless areas.
Explaining further, he said that they are happy to witness these issues being exposed via the media. He stated that they will work together and extend their fullest support towards the endeavour in order to solve issues together.
