Six individuals have been arrested for allegedly illegally mining for treasure in the Thawul tank in the Gomarankadawala  area.

The suspects, who are residents of Galenbindunuwewa, Urupola and Gomarankadawala, were produced before the Trincomalee Magistrate’s Court and thereafter further remanded until July 18.

Further investigations are underway by the Gomarankadawala Police.
