The European Union has decided to lift the ban on fisheries exports from Sri Lanka. According to the EU, the challenge facing Sri Lanka now is to consolidate the progress it has achieved.
“This success is about Sri Lanka being in a better position, to operate a sustainable fisheries policy to manage better Sri Lanka’s fisheries resources. When Sri Lanka takes the floor at the next meeting of the Indian ocean Junnah Commision, the voice of the Sri Lankan delegates will be heard much more carefully and it will be a much stronger voice, becuase of your success in tackling this problem”, David Daly, EU Ambassador
