The Sri Lanka Freedom party has decided not to extend the tenure of Central Bank Governor Arjun Mahendran. This stand was revealed during a media briefing convened in Parliament on Thursday.
Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Mahinda Amaraweera, speaking to media, said that the complaint lodged with the Bribery Commission against the governor of the Central bank is still being investigated and added that they are continuing to provide information required for this move.
Meanwhile, State Minister of Highways Dilan Perera added:
We should definitely look into the charges of fraud and corruption and take necessary action. He should step down. the Sri Lanka freedom party is of the view that he should not be reappointed ..”
