The Met Department warned fishing and naval communities to exercise with caution when setting off to sea due to strong winds which could be expected in the coastal areas of the country.
The weather forecast issued by the Met Department adds that the coastal area extending from Puttalam to Mannar via Trincomalee, as well as the coastal area from Batticaloa to Pottuvil via Hambantota, could experience wind speeds of upto 60-65 kilometres per hour which would result in rough seas at times.
Explaining further they added that wind speeds in other coastal areas could increase upto 50 kilometres per hour at times during the day.
