The Public Service Commission notes that disciplinary action is being taken against 350 state sector employees at present. Secretary to the Commission, Gamini Seneviratne stated that certain disciplinary action hearings were being heard for a number of years.
Explaining further, he noted that inquiries were being conducted against certain doctors, auditors, members of the Public Administration Service, as well as members of the Education Administration Service, based on charges filed against them.
He went on to note that the services of certain employees had been suspended as a result of the disciplinary action procedures, adding that a special programme had been implemented in order to prevent the delay of the hearings.
