The Government Medical Officers Association is preparing for a token strike tomorrow.
The GMOA claims that irregularities were committed when granting the post-residential appointments register.However, the government says that the appointments were not influenced.
Media Spokesperson for the GMOA,Dr. Samantha Ananda charged that it is clear that political influence has been exerted when granting the post-residential appointments register for rural services
He added that a countrywide strike will be launched by the GMOA tomorrow and the strike action will get underway in all districts except in Colombo, Gampaha and Kegalle Districts. However, activities at emergency units of hospitals will be carried out as normal. The strike action is expected towconclude at 12.
“If there is no favourable response, we will engage in a more severe strike action”,said the GMOA spokesperson,Dr. Samantha Ananda.
