Of all Poya days, the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day is of utmost significance as it marks three major events in the life of Lord Buddha. To celebrate the occasion, the Sirasa Namami Vesak Zone will take place centering the MTV / MBC Head Office premises located down Braybrooke Street in Colombo 02.

The Sirasa Namami Vesak Zone is organized to celebrate the three main stages of the life of Lord Buddha by MTV / MBC together with John Keels for the 6th time.

Preparations for the event were launched this morning following the Kap erecting ceremony which took place at the auspicious time.

The Sirasa Namami Vesak Zone will take place on the 21st , 22nd and 23rd of May centering the MTV / MBC Head Office premises in Colombo 02 and will comprise of a relics exposition, pandols, vesak lanterns , dansals and other activities.

The Sri Lanka Navy will contribute with with a Vesak Lanterns exhibition and a cultural procession.

The procession that will carry the Sri Sarvanna relics and the relics of 19 Maharahath Thero’s to the Vesak Zone will commence on Tuesday from the Nelligala International Buddhist Centre in Kandy.

The sacred Agrasravaka relics of Arahants Sariputta and Moggallana will be moved to the Vesak Zone in a procession starting on the 17th from the Historic Kataragama Kiri Vehera premises.

The processions will reach the Sirasa Namami Vesak Zone on the 21st.
