The Asia Shipping Conference 2016, hosted in Sri Lanka, drew to a close on Friday evening.
The Asian Shipping Conference organised by the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association and the Ceylon Association of Shipping Agents saw the participation of a diverse crowd from the industry.
The conference serves as an impacting arena for the shipping and trading industry, also encouraging women to take up roles in the industry.
“It was very nice to see the ladies getting involved in shipping industry.” said the Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranatunga, following the ceremony
The Minister of Ports and Shipping added
‘WISTA’ was formed to get all the women in this country involved – and introduce shipping to women. And they should take these concepts to the villages and incorporate these village ladies into the system and take the country to the next level.
