Sri Lankan cricketers departed for a two month tour of Britain on Wednesday, May 4 under pressure from fans to improve their performance.

The 17 man squad which features 10 batsmen, five pacemen and two spinners will play three test matches, five one day matches and one T20 match.

Sri Lankan Cricket Team coach Graham Ford stated that Sri Lanka has a good bowling unit which has grown to become a very useful attack. He went on to note that they have all experienced success in English conditions therefore they will be able to work together and create pressure.

Despite recently recovering from an injury sustained during the last World T20, Lahiru Thirimanne was selected in the squad despite not being named in the 20-man preliminary squad.

Captain of the Sri Lanka team, Angelo Matthews stated that Lahiru Thirimane is technically equipped and the best batsman at the moment.

He added that a slight mental shift in his approach could do him wonders as all of them including the selection committee and himself are backing him up to go out and fire.

Sri Lanka will also play two one day games against Ireland.
