The Sri Lanka Freedom Party convened a media briefing in Colombo on Wednesday, April 27.

State Minister of Highways, Dilan Perera stated that Basil Rajapaksa travels around the country to distribute money for buses, food, alcohol – and did so also during the recent presidential election.

Explaining further he added that Basil Rajapaksa left his own brother Mahinda Rajapaksa within 24 hours, following the defeat and now he returns as the saviour of the SLFP.

He questioned Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Dullas Alahapperuma whether they agree to this, as last month it was stated that Basil was the reason for Mahinda Rajapaksa’s loss.

Minister of Disaster Management, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa stated that they are not the UNP. The consent was received to operate the consensual government for a period of two years, along with the agreement between two leaders which included those who defect from the party will not be involved in the government.

Explaining further, he noted that if someone tries to ridicule them by saying they are being the tail of the UNP, they should know that they are united in order to find a solution to this national issue.
