Following News1st’s revelation , authorities had taken measures to put a stop to the water leak that was experienced over the past five days in the Nugape area in Welisara,
At a time when many areas of the country are facing a shortage of water due to the dry weather affecting Sri Lanka, News1st on Thursday reported the manner in which water was going to waste for a period of five days.
Locals said that even though they informed the National Water Supply and Drainage Board of this matter, their pleas had fallen on deaf ear.
Following the News 1st revelation, officials were quick to put a stop to the leak on Thursday night.
A resident charged that “water was leaking all these days and nobody took notice of it but after it was shown on TV they came and started working on it.”
