Road Development Authority’s Director of Expressway Operations Maintenance and Management Division S. Opanayaka says that additional exits will be opened to minimise traffic on the Southern Expressway during the festive season.

He said that between 50,000 and 55,000 vehicles travel along the Southern Expressway during the season.

The Sri Lanka Transport board said that 695 additional buses have been deployed today for the convenience of passengers travelling to their villages.

Deputy General Manager of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, Raja Gunathilaka, said that steps have been taken to deploy buses to meet the requirements of the general public.

Sri Lanka Railways Suprientendant Wijaya Samarasinghe said that the a number of special train services have been scheduled today.
