A girl has been killed, and her mother and brother injured, in an accident which occurred along the Banderawela – Haputale main road in the Oththekade area.

Police stated that the accident had occurred when they were travelling from Colombo to Bandarawela on Sunday morning. The deceased was a 20-year-old resident of Bandarawela.

The injured have been admitted to the Badulla and Diyatalawa Hospitals. Police added that the accident had occurred as the 20-year-old girl had fallen asleep at the wheel.
