Police Headquarters stated that from the period between January to April 8, there have been eight reports of containers meeting with accidents after colliding onto the Kalupalama Bridge in Peliyagoda.
While there were no reports of death or injury, there had been reports of damage to property as a result.
Meanwhile, the Deputy General Manager of Railway Transport Vijaya Samarasingha said that they have completely prohibited containers from travelling under the Kalupalama Bridge along the Peliyagoda – Kelaniya road.
At midnight on Thursday, a container had caused much damage to the railway track after colliding onto the Kalupalama Bridge in Peliyagoda.
The Deputy General Manager of railway transport said that they hope to obtain compensation for the damage from the driver of the container.
