Three ministers took oaths before President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday, April 6.

Badulla District MP Lakshman Senevirathne was sworn in as the State Minister of Science and Technology.

Galle District UPFA Parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Employment, while Kalutara District MP Palitha Thevarapperuma was sworn in as the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.

With these new appointments, the number of Deputy Minister rose to 25 and the number of State Minister increased to 20.

There are 46 Cabinet Ministers and total number of Ministers, Deputy Minister and State Ministers stands at 91.

Also In keeping with the New Year customs and traditions, the time table of auspicious times for this year’s Sinhala and Tamil New Year known as ‘Nekath Seettuwa’ was presented to President Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s Official Residence, today.

Marking the ancient tradition, where the ‘Nakath Mohottala’, the official astrologer of the Kings delivered the ‘Nekath Seettuwa’ to the King, a layman presented it to the President.

The auspicious times of cooking the New Year food, lighting of the oil lamp, and time of feasting are all included in the Auspicious time paper, in line with the Dawn of the New year.
