A team of representatives from Sri Lanka have departed to Brussels to participate in the final discussions regarding the ban imposed by the European Union against the exporting of fish.
The Department of Fisheries said that the team, headed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries departed on Saturday.
Representatives of the European Union have previously arrived in the country to discuss the issues surrounding the matter.
These representatives focussed their attention on the facts surrounding the exporting of fish and supervised the steps that have been taken to rectify these issues.
The ban on the exporting of fish was imposed by the EU last year due to several factors, including the failure to implement the recommendations for the control of illegal fishing, failure to implement sanctions against the deep sea fishing operations and the failure to impose regional fishing laws.
