Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa was questioned on Sunday over a rumour regarding attempts to secure his entry into parliament.
Journalists questioned Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the sidelines of the opening ceremony for a new Dhamma school building at the Samarasingharamaya in Thelijjawila.
“I cannot simply enter parliament”, said the former defence secretary, Gotabaya Rajapaksa who explained that there must be a public mandate and that it couldn’t be done with the national list either because there is no need to since there are plenty of individuals who entered through the national list.
He added that it is the people who know whether a government is good or bad and the power of the people is more important than everything else
“No one can work against the will of the people”, said the former defence secretary.
