The National Water Supply and Drainage Board says that issues have arisen in supplying water to many areas across the country, owing to the power-cuts being imposed.
General Manager of the Board, Ranjith Balasuriya said this situation has arisen due to the disruption of power to water pumping stations.
He added however that measures have been taken by the Electricity Board to provide electricity throughout the day to pumping stations that supply water to areas such as Colombo, Galle, Matara, Negombo and Kandy.
The General Manager noted that water supply in other areas will be affected owing to the disruption of electricity to those water pumping stations.
Therefore, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board requests the public in those areas to be vigilant prior to the disruption of electricity.
