Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that the supply of electricity will return to normalcy from Thursday March 17.
He said that operations to re-commence the Norochcholai Power Plant are underway.
The latest countrywide power outage which started at around 02:20 on Sunday afternoon occurred due to an explosion in a transformer at the Biyagama substation of the Ceylon Electricity Board.
Even though the supply of electricity was restored after a lapse of ten hours, the CEB has not been able to provide a continuous electricity supply as the Norochcholai power plant which adds 42 percent of the electricity to the National Grid shut down following the incident.
However, the scheduled power cuts by the Ceylon Electricity Board had caused severe discomfort to those living in many areas.
