Minister says power will be generated from Norchcholai tonight

The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyamabalapitiya says power will be generated from Generator C of the Norchcholai Power Plant tonight.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, Suren Batagoda, stated that electricity will be provided from Thursday morning onwards and that by doing so, 300 mega watts will be added to the national grid.

The Ceylon Electricity Board also stated that there will be intermittent power cuts on Wednesday and Thursday which will last up to five and half hours during the morning, and two hours during the night.

The power cut will be imposed on the ABCD zones into which the country has been divided into.

The Ceylon Electricity Board stated that the power outages will occur during specific time periods which are from 7 a.m.to 12.30 p.m., 12.30 p.m. to 6 p.m., 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The board also stated that the power cuts are being imposed as a result of the breakdown of the Norochcholai Power Plant.
