High Commissioner for International Co-operation and Development of the European Union, Neven Mimica and a group of representatives have arrived in Sri Lanka for a three day official visit.
The Ministry of foreign affairs stated that the purpose of this visit is to strengthen bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the European Union.
The High Commisioner and the representatives are scheduled to meet with the president, prime minister and other high level officials in Sri Lanka.
The European Commission also announced that it will co-sign two new support programmes worth €38 million in total in the field of rural development and trade with Sri Lanka.
