Min. Samarawickrama speaks on port city at SL Investment and Business Conclave

Speaking at the “Sri Lanka Investment and Business Conclave 2016” organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on the Port City Project, Minister Malik Samarawickrama said “All systems go as far as China is concerned”.

Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, Malik Samarawickrama noted that all the systems go as far as China is concerned.

He added that the port city project, which has been suspended for a while, will recommence upon the approval of the EIA. Explaining further, he noted that there will be few amendments to the original agreement as the whole project will be under a joint venture between the Chinese company and the Sri Lankan government.

He went on to note that the project will proceed when the agreement is signed, and in addition, all other projects such as extension of the southern expressway, extension of the railways from Beliatta to Kataragama, water projects and so on will be carried out.

Explaining further, he noted that more than 100 investors from around the world are attending the summit.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mangala Samaraweera stated that there foreign policy is based on the objectives of democratisation, reconciliation and development.
