Twenty nine Indian fishermen who violated the Sri Lankan Maritime Border were arrested by the Navy on the morning of Sunday, March 06.
Navy Media Spokesperson Captain Akram Alavi stated that the group of fishermen were arrested off the coast of Talaimannar. He added that nine of the Indian fishermen had been arrested in the Northern seas of Talaimannar, following which, they were handed over to the custody of the Fisheries Department Office in Talaimannar.
Twenty more fishermen arrested in the seas South of Talaimannar were handed over to the Kalpitiya Police.
