Notices were issued on seven heads of the National Freedom Front including its leader former minister Wimal Weerawansa to appear in court on March 18.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya issued the notices following a complaint that was filed in court by the Cinnamon Gardens Police. The complaint says that the suspects caused hardship to the general public by engaging in a demonstration in Havelock Road in Colombo, ahead of the visit of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid Ra’ad Zeid Al-Hussein, using sound equipment without permission.
Notices were also issued on, Jayantha Samaraweera, Weerakumara Disanayake, Piyasiri Wijeyanayake, Mohammed Muzammil, Roger Seneviratne and Don Liyusa, to appear before court on March 18 .
