One of Google Project Loon’s helium balloons has safely landed in Pupuressa area,Gampola.
The balloon that was launched in South America, successfully reached Sri Lanka. Google plans on testing 3 balloons, the first of which reached Sri Lankan airspace on Monday (15th).
Google says that the balloons are capable of providing total internet coverage to Sri Lanka with cheaper data service rates. Once in the stratosphere, the balloons are said to reach a height high as commercial airliners and barely visible to the naked eye and will have a lifespan of about 180 days, but can be recycled.
flight control of safely landing the balloon under standard operating procedures was successfully carried this evening #GoogleLoon
