One lane traffic will be maintained along a selected number of roads in Kandy as part of a one day trial traffic plan.Police said that thereby, vehicles which travel towards Colombo, Peradeniya and Gampola from the Good Shed Bus Stop will be directed towards the William Gopallawa Mawatha, from the Keppatipola Roundabout via the public market.
Police stated that all vehicles arriving from Good Shed will not be allowed to directly enter William Gopallawa Avenue from near the train station.
All vehicles travelling from near the clock-tower towards Colombo and Peradeniya are requested to proceed on the road behind the public market and turn left at the Kepetipola junction and at the Bogambara Roundabout to proceed through Scout Mawatha towards William Goppalawa Avenue .
All vehicles arriving from Hanathane are to proceed through Bogambara Scout Mawatha towards either to the town or to Colombo and also vehicles arriving from Hantana and travelling to Theldeniya and Thalathumbaya are to proceed through Ehelepola Kumarihami Mawatha.
Vehicles travelling through D.S.Senanayake road and towards Torrington Bus Stop are advised not to enter Sri Wikrama Rajasinghe Road but to proceed through Sangaraja road and pass through Church road and go through Dalada avenue towards Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe road.
At an inquiry conducted by News 1st, Mayor of Kandy, Sena Dissanayake said that a meeting will be held for all parties in order to discuss about the success and difficulties which have arisen due to this trial.
