President Maithripala Sirisena left on a three-day official visit to Germany on the morning of Monday February 15.
The Sri Lankan head of state is engaging in this tour based on an invitation made by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The President’s Media Unit said that the aim of this tour was to strengthen economical and trade relations between Sri Lanka and Germany, and help develop the country’s economy and development progress.
A special ceremony will be held under the patronage of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to welcome the President on February 17.President Sirisena is also scheduled to tour the German Parliament and will meet its representatives.
After concluding his three-day visit to Germany, the President will leave for Austria on February 19, where he is scheduled to meet Austrian President Heinz Fischer.
