Measures have been taken to export paddy. Chairman of the Paddy Marketing Board, M.B. Dissanayake said that African countries such as Nigeria and Kenya, have agreed to purchase paddy from the country.
The chairman said that disucssions are currently taking place with regard to the matter.
He further said that a decision has been made to send around thirty thousand metric tonnes of paddy for the World Food Programme adding that 200,000 metric tonnes of paddy are available with the Paddy Marketing Board.
