UN special envoy has announced that Diplomatic efforts to end the Syrian conflict has been temporarily suspended in Geneva.

U.N. Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura on Wednesday announced “a pause” in discussions aimed at resolving the war in the nation and has set the 25th of February to restart the negotiations

The meetings in Switzerland are part of a process outlined in a UN resolution last month that envisages an 18-month timetable for a political transition, including the drafting of a new constitution and elections.

According to the United Nations, more than 250,000 people have been killed, 1 million injured and the majority of Syrians displaced due to ongoing violence since 2011
